Cardinia Shire Biodiversity Projects

This project is funded by the Cardinia Shire and supports on-ground biodiversity projects on private land in the Cardinia Shire. On-ground works which may be eligible for funding support include; revegetation using tube stock and local seed for direct seeding, protection and enhancement of remnant vegetation, and weed control on private land.

The project contributes to the protection of remnant native vegetation and regional biodiversity. Threats to regional biodiversity are caused by fragmented vegetation, degraded waterways, salinity, erosion, weeds and introduced animals.

Economic benefits include; enhancing the productivity and sustainability of agriculture, protection of stock, pastures and crops, improved erosion & salinity management, provide natural crop pollination and pest control services by native birds, insects, mammals and reptiles.
