Sustainable Farming Discussion Group – Linga Longa Park

All farmers are invited to the next WPCLN Sustainable Farming discussion group at ‘Linga Longa Park’ farm at Officer South.
Simon Beard and family welcome us to their farm for our final discussion group for 2023.
Simon runs 100 Friesian x Angus cows and crosses them with Charolais Bulls. They turn off 100 vealers annually weighing 450-480kg at 9-11months of age. They sell approx. 70-80 vealers through their farmgate business ‘Meat me at the gate’ and calve 4 times per year so they can supply their customers all year.
Simon will talk about their farm business and management. We will go for a walk and view the cattle, the pastures, and also a large compost pile that Simon is making.
A very interesting morning is assured! As it is the last discussion group for the year, please BYO lunch, and we will continue our conversations over lunch.
