You are invited to attend the next organic vegie/fruitgrowers discussion group at Penelope (Pea) Swales ‘Piggery Road Permaculture and Produce’ farm on Wed 11th Oct.
Pea has a micro market garden, and grows vegetables which are sold to approx 14-18 locals through a vegie box scheme. The market garden is small (1/3 acrea) but packs a punch with a wide variety of vegetables planted out in mulched beds. Using no-till permaculture principles, Pea uses hay she grows on the farm, to supply nutrients, weed suppression, and soil protection. There are also some poly tunnels which are used to germinate her seedlings, and grow some winter vegies.
Pea will share her story with us, and show us her microfarm. It is well worth seeing!
Everyone is welcome to attend this very interesting farm. Boolarra is just south of Hazelwood in the Latrobe Valley. As it will be a decent drive for some, feel free to BYO lunch & chat.
