In Warragul South’s rich red soils where daffodils and dairy farms thrive, Gabe has recently taken on a lease of 2ha and will be converting prime dairy pasture into high value horticulture. It has been a dream of Gabe’s to grow and sell his own vegetables and this is the first step of his journey!
Gabe is really keen for the group to come along and provide support and input on farm design, setup, soil management, irrigation, crop selection before the first sod is turned!
In addition, Lydia Mofakhami from The Open Food Network which links regenerative and organic producers directly to retailers and consumers, will briefly talk about some ways of offering produce direct to local eaters and retail markets, and some of the opportunities local growers can explore with shorter supply chains.
