All farmers are welcome to attend this Multi Storey Farming field day and hear Clinton & Chris talk about latest results and learnings.
In October 2014 Clinton Tepper set up a demonstration plot designed to integrate trees, crops and livestock. The Multi Storey Farming concept has proved so successful, that this paddock is now one of Clinton’s most productive. Livestock now graze under the trees regularly.
In Dec 2018, 50% of the trees were mulched with an excavator and the residue left on the ground to improve the soil. In May 2019 a SoilKee pasture renovator was used to sow annual species.
Soil carbon to 1m depth has been measured in the demonstration site & compared to an adjacent paddock. Soil biology results have also been measured & Chris Alenson will be talking through the results.
We will also view stage two, which includes a lucerne crop established in 2016 and the integration of wide spaced plantings of native and exotic trees planted in 2018 and 2019.
