All welcome to attend the next Morn Pen Farmer Discussion Group will be held at Coranderrk Homestead, Healesville.
Coranderrk was established as an Aboriginal reserve in 1863 initially covering 2300 acres and growing to 4850 acres. Its inhabitants very
successfully grazed cattle and grew hops. The old homestead along with 200 acres came back into indigenous ownership in 1999. Its place in indigenous Australian history is important because it was at Coranderrk that there emerged one of the first sustained campaigns for
justice, land rights self determination under the leadership of Wurundjeri leader William Barak. This visit will be an opportunity to hear the story from Coranderrk descendants and see the planning and development work being done the bring the property back into production.
