Gippsland Agroforestry Network – Spidermann demonstration

All farmers interested in agroforestry are invited to this field day being run by Gippsland Agroforestry Network.

Quoted from Peter Devonshire – “Growing timber productive trees will require you to thin out your woodlot when trees are small and again larger. I have battled to thin my 14 year old spotted gum and Yellow SB due to access issues and my failing body. This machine arrived at my place as part of the storm recovery program and I was impressed by its maneuverability and low ground impact. It is equipped with a falling head and grab so capable of felling and docking tree. I see it as an effective way of getting felled wood to a landing or track in a small 3ha plantation.
Getting the best value from your trees involves careful planning and being aware of developments in thinking and technology. Even if your trees are small or still at the planning stage it is good to be aware of what is out there to assist your tree management. I was blow away by the potential uses of this machine. (This demonstration is unlikely to be repeated by GAN.)”

Owners and operators Allan and Cindy will be present to discuss applications and experience using Spidermann over a BBQ lunch. They have a wealth of operational experience with this machine.

There will be plenty of things to see and discuss. This is the first on a number of field days we are planning to run in 2022 so make the most of it.
