This will be one of the most interesting field days Landcare will run this year! Clinton Tepper is a forester and a farmer. 2½ years ago Clinton set up a demonstration plot and planted 3 species of trees for high value agroforestry. However, the plot was designed to allow the continued use of the planted area for crops and livestock for multiple benefits.
A wide range of crops and pastures were sown under the trees with some crops proving to be highly productive & others failing. Crops were diverse and included lucerne, clovers, rice, triticale, oats, linseed, sulla, fenugreek, bromes, fescues, grasses plus many others.
The growth of the trees has been outstanding with livestock grazing under the trees by 14 months!
Some significant learnings have come out of this very unique trial which will challenge your thinking about multi-storey farming with trees!
Come along and be inspired & challenged by this unique trial which could change your view of trees and their incorporation into farms! Bring a chair!
Please note that the field day will be limited to 60 participants. RSVP is essential to Peter Ronalds at peter@wpcln.org.au or 0402 650 382
